Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette Combinations

Anonymous asked beautyforum: So I gave in and I got the urban decay 15th anniversary pallet! I LOVE their pallets, and have a few, but this one is great. I know you have it Danielle, can you offer guidance on what colors you’ve played with, or matched together within the pallet? Thank you, love the forum!

Hello lovely, Hannah and I have been absolutely loving our Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palettes for the fun versatility in looks that we’re able to create! We’re gonna both break down some of our favorite combos that we’ve been matching using this amazing palette. If you’d like some more info on the UD 15 Year Anniversary palette, check out our post!

The Low Down on Lip Stains

I decided to expand this question to include high end lip stains as well because I do believe that lip/cheek stains are a great investment because they can be multipurpose product that will last a long time! Lip Stains are a great product to have in your makeup collection because they’re long wearing and pigmented. They are perfect for special events like school dances, weddings, etc. Great lip stains don’t need extra touching up throughout the day making them ideal in those situations.

  • Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain- These are most inexpensive and readily available drugstore lip stains that work really well. There is a great shade range of 10 different colors depending on what you’re looking for! These also have a balm on the bottom for moisturizing throughout the day. ($8.99)
  • mark Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain- These aren’t found at a local drugstore because they are mark by Avon, but I included them because of their low price and amazing quality! Seventeen raved about these and it makes sense why. These are super glossy and not drying at all which makes them ideal for long days and lots of pictures!
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams- If you know Hannah and I at all, you know our serious obsession with these. While they’re not labeled as lip stains, per say, they work the same in my opinion. They are a hybrid lipstick, lip gloss-esque formula that dries matte, but still moisturized. It’s awesome! They’re really smooth and great for all day wear because they last and they’re so pigmented in 11 gorgeous shades. NYX has also just released a brand new Xtreme Lip Cream that is supposed to be even more pigmented than the Soft Matte Cremes, so we can’t wait to try those out!

High End:

  • Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint- These are soooo fabulous! I can’t even explain how in love with these chubby twist up pencils I am. They make your lips appear fuller and give you a gorgeous natural flush. They also come in matte shades giving you even more options for colors. The set of five below is a great deal at only $29, a $210 value.
  • Benefit Benetint- This should be no surprise because Benetint is so popular in the beauty world. It gives the perfect glow to either your lips or your cheeks! This original is a great rosy color, but Benefit also has tints in a pinkier shade, Posietint and a mango tint, Cha Cha Tint. If you’re interested, Benetint also comes in a lipgloss type container with a Benetint wand on one end and a clear gloss on the other called the Pocket Pal

Statement Lips: Fuchsia/Hot Pink

We’ve already seen the bold statement lips that graced the runways for Spring 2012 and I am ecstatic. I think that Statement Lips are the perfect addition to any look day or night! It’s a great way to stand out, get noticed, and look totally fabulous this season. There are so many variations from fuchsia to tangerine to red that there is a bright color for everyone. It doesn’t have to be an everyday look, but it can be depending on the shade and the rest of your makeup! I thought it would be appropriate to do these in a series, so that I can give you a few options for each color without making each post overwhelming.

Hannah’s Top 5 of 2011

Picking my top 5 favorite products is so difficult because I honestly reach for so many things every day! That being said, I can’t imagine my makeup routine without these 5 staples, and for many of these products, I credit them for changing my views on makeup in 2011:

MAC Painterly Paint Pot- This goes on my lids almost every single day. When I bought it, I didn’t think I’d use it as much as my other paint pot, and I had no idea how useful it would be. I am completely hooked on this perfect skin tone paint pot.

NARS Blush in Orgasm- I honestly go back and forth between phases of loving this one and Desire, but Orgasm is the blush that got me into NARS and blush in general. I adore this blush and I could not imagine what I’d do without it.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette- I debated for a while about which Naked Palette to choose, and eventually settled on the newest addition. I prefer the lighter shades and think I reach for Tease almost every day. It’s just a gorgeous palette and I know I will probably end up hitting pan on a few colors in this palette. That being said, if I didn’t have my original Naked palette I’d probably be quite upset too.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Tease- This gloss was my entire summer. I can’t remember how many times I’d just throw this gorgeous color on and go with almost no other makeup on. I still wear it often and love the shade, and credit it for making me a lipgloss girl.

Essie Tea and Crumpets (and Nail polish in general)- I think it’s safe to say 2011 was about nail polish for me. I went from having a small collection to being “the girl who has a ton of nail polish.”  If I had to pick one, this would be my little representative. It’s a gorgeous pinky beige with some shimmer.

Sidenote: I chose not to include foundation or mascara because I’m currently switching mine and I’d rather not recommend any right now!

Hope you enjoyed this, and I hope you have a happy New Year beauties!  I’ll be back to filming in 2012—- I got a new camera for Christmas!

Stay Beautiful,

Danielle’s Top 5 of 2011

Beauties, we hope you’ve had a fabulous 2011 full of fun, memories, and makeup (much like our year). We can’t wait to see what 2012 has to offer for Beauty Forum and all of you. We thought it would be fun to close out the year with our top five favorites from this year. As hard as it was to limit myself to 5 makeup only products, I did it and I’m pretty satisfied with my choices.

  1. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup- Hello, holy grail foundation. Finding this was like a God send. It was everything I wanted in a foundation. It’s very light and not cakey. I can layer it easily for the appropriate amount of coverage with SPF20. It has a wide array of shades for a drugstore foundation. ($11.99)
  2. Urban Decay NAKED- This was definitely one of my favorite Christmas gifts from last year and it remains one of my daily staple makeup products. It’s the perfect array of neutral shadows that are universally flattering at an amazing value that you can’t really beat. The quality is amazing and I’ve barely even made a dent in it after over a year of constant use! Look out for a NAKED vs NAKED2 comparison here on BF, now that Hannah and I have both. ($48)
  3. NARS Turkish Delight Lipgloss- Probably my first Youtube induced purchase was this amazing lipgloss that I always have in my bag. It’s described as a pink sorbet or a baby pink, but it looks great over any lip color. It’s pricey, but lasts forever. I use it all the time and I’m still on that first tube from over a year ago. ($24)
  4. MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque- This product is like my baby. I hardly ever parted with it over the last six months. I wore it under every eye look practically. It was my first exposure to paint pots and it was true love from the beginning. I love the peachy golden shade that makes my eyes totally pop and keeps the colors from creasing all day! It’s fabulous and worth every penny. ($17.50)
  5. Rimmel London Volume Flash The Max Bold Curves- I spent a majority of 2011 wearing some form of a L’Oreal Voluminous mascara, but this bad boy has surpassed any other mascara I’ve tried all year. Drugstore or high end. It holds a curl like whoa baby and my eyelashes look so long and fake, it’s fabulous. It gives my lashes great lift and is almost water resistant, which is nice too. I layer it like mad without any problems with clumping. ($7.29)

Rave Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo By Eyestudio

If you’ve been following me on twitter or saw my latest youtube video, y’all know I’m now obsessed with these. I have a serious soft spot for cream shadows especially ones that don’t crease! Obviously there are tons out there in the makeup world: MAC Paint Pots, MAKEUP FOREVER Aqua Creams, and Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows to name a few. These are all super pricey upwards of $18 EACH! This limits the number you can purchase if you’re on a budget, like I try to be. Drugstores have yet to really hit it out of the park with cream shadows similar to those of higher end brands, but I think these have just scored!

Maybelline Color Tattoos by Eyestudio are absolutely brand new and are just starting to pop up at your local Target’s and CVS’ at the least, but will be widely released next month! There are 10 fabulous shades: 5 neutral and 5 bolder ones. They are claimed to be a 24 Hour cream eyeshadow! They are super duper creamy and smooth which I love.

I picked up 5 of these fabulous shadows. The ones I will be showing are in bold.

  • Tough as Taupe
  • Too Cool
  • Bad to the Bronze
  • Tenacious Teal
  • Painted Purple
  • Fierce & Tangy
  • Edgy Emerald
  • Audacious Asphalt
  • Punk Pomegranate
  • Bold Gold

As you can tell they are SUPER vibrant and pigmented. I was totally shocked. I couldn’t believe how well these held up without a base. My skin probably hated me last night, but I didn’t wash it off my eyes and I woke up this morning with the color still pretty well in tact without much creasing. It was totally crazy because even after that long my paint pot starts to fade at the least.

Audacious Asphalt

Bold Gold

Punk Pomegranate

Painted Purple

Tenacious Teal

I’ve even heard that some of these colors are dupes of MAKEUP FOREVER Aqua Creams!! Hey, I’d rather spend $6, than $22, wouldn’t you!? These currently retail at CVS for $7.29 and Target for $5.99. They’re going fast, so I’d definitely get your hands on these when you see them!

Overall, I highly recommend these if you’re looking for an amazing cream shadow that is long lasting, pigmented, and makes your eyeshadows pop! I’m in love and I’m sure you’ll fall for them too.
